Ethan Moore teaching and discussing ideas with students

About Ethan

I'm a doctoral researcher in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh, with more than six years of tutoring experience. In my time as an educator, I've had the privilege to share the subjects I love with hundreds of students - from KS2 to undergraduate level in private, university and international summer-school settings.

It's been my experience that teaching and research go together - the classroom is the best excuse to bring knowledge to life and see it take form in someone else. Seeing the moment when that argument, interpretation or metaphor "clicks" for someone else is as satisfying now as it was for me when I first experienced those lightbulb moments.

I help students understand how strong arguments and interpretations are built. The aim is not only to improve grades, but to foster confidence, intellectual independence and an ability to express difficult ideas clearly.
