What Students Say

“Before working with Ethan, I genuinely had no idea how to approach an unseen poem. He gave me a method I could actually use under exam pressure, and I went from a C to an A in my mock. His feedback on essays is detailed but never overwhelming — he explains the reasoning behind every suggestion, which means it actually sticks.”

How I Work

Every student appraoches a text differently, and I tailor sessions accordingly. For younger students preparing for GCSE, we focus on building reliable analytical habits — how to move from plot summary to active interpretation, how to deploy quotations with precision, and how to write under timed conditions without freezing. For A-Level, sessions go deeper: close, perceptive and granular reading, situating texts in their context, comparative thinking, and the kind of interpretive confidence that helps you reach the top bands.

Sessions are relaxed but purposeful, interactive and collaborative - we will interrogate texts, deploy key terminology and practice exam technique together - and I will give you honest, constructive feedback throughout.
